You’ll see ideas from Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, and guided play throughout the day. Each adds something valuable to how children explore, create, learn, and grow.
Independence
Children practice doing real things for themselves—pouring, cleaning up, choosing materials, caring for their space, and becoming more capable.
What this can look like: pouring water, preparing a simple snack, choosing a material, using it carefully, and returning it when finished.
Curiosity
Children’s questions and interests can grow into projects, art, experiments, stories, building, and deeper exploration.
What this can look like: a question about a bug outside becoming drawing, books, counting, observation, building, and a simple science investigation.
Imagination
Stories, nature, music, art, open-ended play, and simple everyday work have a real place in the day.
What this can look like: storytelling, singing, dress-up, loose parts, nature finds, baking, gardening, and pretend play that children shape themselves.
A teacher who knows when to step in
Children have room to play and explore while the teacher knows when to ask a question, introduce an idea, add language or math, or simply let the play continue.
What this can look like: adding a ruler to a block project, a new word to a conversation, a counting idea to a game, or one good question that keeps children thinking.

Each class will be led by the same dedicated teacher. We’re hiring for warmth, patience, good judgment, strong early-childhood teaching skills, and a style that fits Autumn Ridge: playful, attentive, and intentional without making preschool feel rigid.

The preschool room is already here.
This room was previously used as a preschool. Autumn Ridge will keep the built-in cabinetry, the red barn play wall and hooks, and the private bathroom attached directly to the classroom, while updating the furniture, materials, lighting, rugs, and wall decor for our program.
